Sunday Service

This week, many of us are looking forward to a long holiday weekend.  Just get through this week, right?  Then, it’s picnics, family, baseball, maybe even a parade.  Why? To kick  off the summer?  Perhaps for some, but the real reason for the Memorial Day holiday is to honor the lives of our lost military members.

As you prepare for this observance, consider making a donation to one of the many charities that support our military and their families.  As always, before giving money to any organization, it is wise to do some research about the financial efficiency of the charity.  That’s where Charity Navigator comes in.

Click HERE for Charity Navigator’s list of organizations that support military families.  Take a moment to read the introduction.  Note the ratings on the list, from the highest four star rating to several charities with a zero star rating.  Then click through the list and read what the charities do, who they serve, and how they use donations.

I am amazingly blessed that my son came home safely from three deployments.  Not everyone experiences such grace.  Whether helping a family whose Mom is deployed, or one whose Dad died in service, or a serviceman who came home but is struggling, these brave Americans deserve our honor and support.  Please consider supporting our military by giving to one of these organizations this week.
